Programmable Rotary Wire Straightener

The TAK Programmable Rotary Wire Straightener ( #0 - PRWS ) is ideally suited to straighten very small ( down to .004” ) yet very tough ( in excess of 250 Ksi tensile ) wire using programmable speeds and drives along with precision tooling items. High tensile wire or wire with a helix condition can be straightened consistently because each system setting is programmable.

The PRWS uses two independant speed programmable counter-rotating arbors to “spin” around the wire as it is being pulled at a consistent feed rate and with a back tension value both of which are also programmable.

Special features like a wire lubricator and anti-twist device are incorporated to provide that extra measure of control and operational consistency. The system also has a special start up sequence where the wire begins to be pulled before the twin arbors begin to spin virtually eliminating the possibility of snapping the smaller diameter wires. The block / dies are typically made of ceramic but each application may use a variety of materials.

Our PRWS has provisions to operate alone or as part of a system by utilizing internal I/O’s and various sensors. Additionally, our rotary straightener can be configured with one of our cutter heads, or with one of our standard pneumatic based or servo drive cutting systems, or as part of a turnkey system that might include inspection, gauging and marking devices.
