Over Mold Strip TAK 

Industry: Electronic

 System Type: SBT Modular

Application Description: An electronic contact needed to be made in a continuous strip so it could be fed into a separate assembly system. The contact needed to be stamped out, have a contact element welded onto it, and have the center portion molded in plastic.

System Function: The modular design approach of the SBT product is ideal for this application. The system had a strip payoff, two stage stamping head, a welding head, and a special over-molding station where ten contacts would be molded at a time. The special overmolding station saved having to run the strip thru a second operation.

Industry: Dental

 System Type: TAK Special

Application Description: Nickel strip used for making inductive laminates used in dental tools needed to be annealed within a four foot space at a rate of at least 30 FPM.

System Function: A special three pancake payoff guided three .187: x .010” nickel strips through a Thermcraft brand oven at a rate of 10 to 15 FPM. The strips were held under tension so that they passed through the oven equally spaced and within the oven center line. A inductance reader monitored the strips so corrections could be made.

 System Type: TAK Series SF2 Servo

Application Description: A medical company that used tungsten wire needed it to be rotary straightened and cut to precise lengths. The wire, however, was prone to internal cracks that were not allowed in the cut pieces.

System Function: A tandem setup between a rotary straightener and a servo based cutting system allowed for the wire to be inspected using a laser micrometer and eddy current device. Bad wire was marked. The inspected wire was then run thought the system a second time, rotary straightened and cut to length. Any marked wire was sorted out of the system so only quality tungsten pieces remained. The system utilized our advanced software and control package.
